Common health symptoms that aren’t actually dangerous

We all have had symptoms that seemed worrisome at one point, but weren’t actually dangerous. And we all have searched the Internet for the causes of that cramps or bruises. Instead of searching the Internet, let’s see what doctors have to say about most common symptoms that seem scary, but are completely harmless.

You heard your joints crackle? Stretching your body and walking can cause joints in your knees, shoulders or back to crack. This may sound scary, but usually it’s not serious. Cracking joints can actually occur as a product of gas. The fluid between the joints, which is a kind of a lubricant, contains gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. When joints move, they create pressure that causes bubbles to burst in the fluid and that’s when you hear you joints cracking.

You notice your toenails getting darker? Long runs in shoes that do not fit your feet can cause your toes to hit the top of the shoe, turning your nails a scary black color. It does look dangerous, but dark nails are actually the result of bruising caused by internal bleeding under the nail. So, every step you make just increases the amount of blood under the nail. This is not dangerous, but can be very painful.

Your fingernails got vertical lines? Small lines that run from the root to the tip of your fingernails are something similar to the facial wrinkles. These lines are caused by aging and are known as “brittle nails” because they increase the chances of your nails breaking. Vertical lines on fingernails may look worrisome, but they are not a sign of medical condition.

You experienced blurred vision? The appearance of spots floating in front of your eyes is more common in people who are nearsighted. Usually, this is not dangerous because floating spots, as well as the vitreous bodies, are caused by changes that are tightly linked with aging. The vitreous part of the eye shrinks and thickens, causing the appearance of spots, lines, circles or webs that blur your vision.

Your eyes are red due to broken capillaries? If you have experienced red web of broken capillaries in the white of your eye, usually it’s not dangerous, unless it happens frequently. Everyday conditions like rubbing your eyes hard, sneezing hard or constipation can cause broken capillaries in the eye. Omega 3 fatty acids, as well as anticoagulants, can also lead to broken blood vessels in the eye.

Did youreyelid just twitch? Myokymia, or more commonly known as spontaneous and uncontrolled eyelid twitching, is often result of stress, fatigue, or lack of sleep. Other reasons that can cause eyelid twitching are frequent use of caffeine and/or alcohol, long periods of time spent in front of the computer, and glasses that don’t fit your eyes as they should.

You had hand tremors? Once you notice your hand shaking while trying to get a glass of water, you shouldn’t panic because usually it is a condition known as essential tremor. This kind of tremor occurs when you are holding a knife or a fork and it’s not dangerous, unlike Parkinson’s tremor which occurs when the hand is relaxed. Essential tremor isn’t associated with any other neurological symptoms, but can be caused by high level of adrenaline due to excitement or anger.

You felt the muscle tremors while you exercised? If you are a beginner in exercise or you just increased the intensity of exercising, no wonder you felt your muscles shaking. This is not dangerous because it means that your muscle fibers are synchronizing. What you need to know is that not all muscle fibers react at the same time. Some of them are at rest, while others are active. Muscle tremors usually occur when the muscle is getting closer to its limits and only a few muscle fibers allow it to move smoothly. Dehydration is also another reason for muscle tremors.

A new mole appeared on your body? Small moles and other similar skin growths on the body are actually small benign tumors. Most often, they are inherited genetically and are not dangerous. Men and women are equally predisposed to developing moles and other skin growths, although pregnancy and obesity can increase the chances of developing moles.

Your nose bleeds in winter? This may look scary, but there is no room for panic. Inside the nose there are many blood vessels that bleed easily. The winter cold and dry air constrict the blood vessels when passing through the nose, which leads to their bursting. Besides, aspirin and blood thinners can also worsen the bleeding.
