Coventry City have officially secured promotion to the Premier League, ending a 25-year absence from the top tier of English football.
The promotion was confirmed with four matches still remaining in the season, marking a remarkable achievement for the club and its supporters.
The team, managed by Frank Lampard, played out a 0–0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday. However, results elsewhere ensured that Coventry’s position at the top could no longer be challenged.
A key moment came when Middlesbrough suffered a defeat against Portsmouth, mathematically confirming Coventry’s promotion.
Race for Remaining Promotion Spots
While Coventry have already secured their place in the Premier League, the battle for the remaining promotion spots is still ongoing.
Ipswich Town currently holds a position that would grant direct promotion. Behind them, several teams remain in contention for playoff qualification, including Millwall, Middlesbrough, Southampton, and Hull City.
Meanwhile, Wrexham and Derby County still have theoretical chances of entering the playoff race.
