Justin Trudeau’s son, Xavier, has spoken publicly about his father’s relationship with singer Katy Perry, offering a personal and surprisingly relaxed perspective.
The former Canadian prime minister and the global pop star confirmed their relationship back in December 2025 through an Instagram post. Since then, public interest in their private lives has only grown.
Now, Xavier—who is often known as Xav—has shared what he really thinks about his father’s new partner.
Speaking on the podcast “Can’t Be Censored” on April 8, the 18-year-old described Katy Perry in simple but warm terms.
“She’s super nice. Really down to earth. She’s great,” Xavier said.
It’s a straightforward comment, but one that gives a glimpse into how the relationship is viewed within the family.
Justin Trudeau has three children with his former wife Sophie—Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Adrien.
On the other side, Katy Perry shares a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, from her previous relationship.
Like many modern families, theirs brings together different backgrounds and experiences, something that seems to be unfolding without major tension—at least from what Xavier suggests.
“What matters is that he’s happy”
For Xavier, the most important part is not the public attention, but his father’s well-being.
“I think my dad is happy, and that’s what matters most,” he said.
It’s a comment that shifts the focus away from celebrity headlines and back to something more personal.
Interestingly, the connection between Xavier and Katy Perry goes beyond family gatherings.
The teenager revealed that he is also involved in music and occasionally shares his own songs with her for feedback.
“When I’m really happy with a song, I send it to her,” he explained.
“She’s always happy to give advice or tell me what I should change.”
That dynamic suggests a more natural relationship, built not just on family ties but on shared interests.
Life in the public eye
With both his father and Perry constantly in the spotlight, Xavier is no stranger to public attention.
Still, his comments come across as measured and grounded, avoiding controversy while offering just enough insight to satisfy curiosity.
