BREAKING NEWS: Talks Between the United States and Iran Collapse!

High-level negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad have ended without an agreement after more than 21 hours of discussions. The talks, described as unprecedented in recent decades, concluded with both sides expressing significant differences on key issues.

US Delegation Leaves Without Deal

J. D. Vance confirmed that the American delegation is returning home after failing to reach an agreement.

“We did not reach a deal, and that is a much worse outcome for Iran than for the United States,” Vance said, adding that Washington had clearly outlined its “red lines.” According to US officials, a central demand remains Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons or the capabilities to produce them rapidly.

Iran Blames “Unreasonable Demands”

Iranian state media reported that the negotiations collapsed due to what they described as “unreasonable demands” from the United States. Officials stated that the Iranian delegation had engaged in intensive negotiations to defend national interests, but progress was blocked despite multiple initiatives.

Different Perspectives on the Negotiations

Aaron David Miller, a former US State Department negotiator, said that Iran may currently hold stronger leverage in the talks. He noted that Tehran appears to be under less pressure to reach a quick agreement and continues to maintain strategic advantages, including control over the Strait of Hormuz and its nuclear capabilities.

“Iran is operating on a different timeline,” Miller said, suggesting that the country may be willing to risk further tensions rather than accept unfavorable terms.

Ceasefire and Regional Stability Remain Key

Iranian officials emphasized that it was unrealistic to expect a comprehensive agreement in a single round of talks. They added that diplomatic contacts and consultations will continue in the coming period, with regional stability—particularly in Lebanon—playing a crucial role in future negotiations.

International Reactions

Penny Wong described the outcome as disappointing and called on both sides to return to negotiations.

“Priority must now be maintaining the ceasefire and resuming dialogue,” she said, warning that further escalation could have serious humanitarian and economic consequences.

Strategic Tensions Over the Strait of Hormuz

Sources close to the negotiations indicated that one of the key issues remains the status of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes. The United States has reportedly pushed for its full opening, while Iran has signaled that no changes will occur without a broader agreement.

Next Steps Uncertain

Pakistan, which hosted and mediated the talks, urged both sides to respect the ceasefire and continue dialogue efforts. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has not issued a formal statement but shared commentary suggesting alternative strategies could be considered if diplomacy fails.
