Liljana Lalikj is looking for her sisters Bojana and Vedrana, from whom she was separated more than 30 years ago. In her public post which she shared in social media groups across the former Yugoslav republics, Liljana explained that they were five sisters who were given up for adoption by their parents in an orphanage in Zagreb, and after that all of them were adopted. Bojana and Vedrana were adopted into the same family in Italy, and their names were changed to Maria and Clelia.
– We are looking for two sisters, Maria and Clelia Nani. Help us reunite the family.
Dear readers,
I am writing to you with hope and sincere plea for help in the search for my sisters who were adopted from Croatia as little girls in the 1990s and were taken to Italy.
My name is Liljana Lalikj, now Brdar. We were five sisters. But due to difficult life circumstances, our biological parents gave us all up for adoption. We were just little girls when we were separated from the Children’s Home “Nazorova” in Zagreb, and each of us went our separate ways.
I want my sisters to know that I, just like them, went through the adoption process and I understand the whole burden and silence that brings that kind of childhood, wrote Liljana in her public post.
She also added the in the meantime she learned that their biological parents had passed away.
– Last year I managed to find one of my sisters and that gave me the strength and faith to not give up until I found the other sisters. We are currently looking for my two sisters who live in
Italy and who were adopted into the same family with the surname Nani:
Vedrana Lalikj, born in 1988, now goes by the name Clelia Nani.
Bojana Lalikj, born in 1989, now goes by the name Maria Nani.
I have only two precious photos from the childhood with them and that is the only trace that connects me to our shared past. My only wish is that all of us find each other and reunite. I don’t ask for more, just to get a chance to meet, hug and mend our broken family ties.
